You can go ahead with document for SUP 2.1.3 platform also but there are few new features have been added in case of 2.2
You need to understand the difference between hybrid app and native app. We can fully consider/utilize device functionality in case of native app development and if you want to replicate the same design/functionality for hybrid app development, it would require more work, more customization, might not be upto that level.
What is that native app functionality? If you can share some points would be easy to understand your requirement.
